2011 marked the formation of the non-for profit Fazakerley 9, created in the memory of James McVey with the sole purpose of bettering the community which loved James, and James was proud to be a member of, namely Fazakerley, Liverpool.
James’ father Jamie participated in many sporting events in 2011 to highlight the non-for profit organisation set up in James memory, and our ultimate goals of becoming a fully fledged charity and working tirelessly to better the local community with projects ranging from the redevelopment of Hawksmoor Park, to promoting sport and its participation throughout Liverpool.
We had a fantastic response to the Fazakerley 9 concert (Sep 2011) in which we remembered James a year on from his death, in conjunction with the Don’t Buy The Sun Campaign and honouring the 96 Hillsborough victims, and in doing so managed to raise not just awareness for the good causes, but also much needed funds which have already been reinvested, directly into those good causes.
In keeping with our charitable aims, Fazakerley 9 is pleased to announce that our application for full charitable status has been approved.
Whilst all of the monies raised by Fazakerley 9 to date have been directly reinvested into the causes and projects we support, with all those involved, working on a purely voluntary basis, achieving full charitable status enables Fazakerley 9 to benefit from various tax efficiencies and the chance to apply for other funding options, such as Lottery Funding, which were previously not available to us as a non-for profit.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported Fazakerley 9 during its first year and especially those, whose help was instrumental in making it all happen.
After a short winter break, please keep on the look out for an exciting array of events and notable dates in our 2012 calendar which will be announced very soon……
